Makaton training
Makaton is a way for you and your child to communicate. It is designed to help people with communication difficulties. Makaton uses signs, gestures and pictures with speech, in spoken word order. Using the Makaton signs whilst speaking will help your child understand what you are saying and can help your child communicate with you. Please be aware, Makaton is different to British Sign Language (BSL).
Makaton level 1 and 2 courses
These training sessions are to attend accredited training for Level 1 and 2 Makaton, for parents and professionals within Bedford Borough.
Makaton level 1 training
Makaton level 1 training aims to teach you the principles of Makaton, learn symbols and signs from Stages 1 and 2 and gain confidence using Makaton every day to support children's communication.

Makaton level 2 training aims to build on the knowledge gained in Level 1 and deepen your understanding of Makaton. You'll learn the signs and symbols of Stages 3 and 4 while developing skills at sentence level.
