Stammering workshop

This workshop is open to parents and carers by invite only.

Children learn about speech, language and communication from the people around them. This can be at home or in school. Up to 8% of children go through a stammering phase as part of their speech development.

Aim of this workshop

  • Understand your child's stammer
  • Know how to respond to stammering in a helpful and supportive way
  • Learn strategies to help make talking easier at home
  • Learn how to build your child's confidence
  • Help you worry less about your child's stammer
  • Know where to find more help and information

Entry criteria

The workshop will benefit parents and carers of children who:

  • stammer
  • under 7 years old
  • have already been referred to the speech and language therapy service or are known to the speech and language therapy team

All our stammering workshops are virtually by video call. 

The booking window will close 2 working days before the date of the training.
