Sail Into Sound Graphic Of Boat Sailing

Sail Into Sounds is a speech sound programme for early years settings. It was developed by Bedfordshire and Luton Speech and Language Therapists and helps practitioners support children’s speech sound development in a fun and practical way.

During the training, practitioners learn how speech sounds develop and how to support this through simple, play-based activities. The programme can be adapted to meet the needs of the children in your setting.

All Sail Into Sounds activities focus on listening and noticing sounds. Children are not expected to say the sounds themselves.

Aim of this workshop

  • Feel confident delivering the 'Sail into sounds' programme to children
  • Use 'Sail into sounds' to help embed speech sounds into children's daily routines.

Entry criteria

The workshop will benefit professionals who work with children who:

  • work in early years settings, such as nursery, preschool or reception classes, with children aged 3 to 5 years old.

Workshop dates

These workshops are free. Practitioners will be given access to a range of helpful resources and session plans.

After the first training session, you will be expected to run the Sail into Sounds group in your setting. A speech and language therapist will visit your setting to support you with at least 1 group session. When this has been completed, you will be an accredited Sail into Sounds practitioner.

Please note, once booked onto a meeting there will be a penalty fee for non-attendance.
