- Professionals and Clinicians
- Training and workshops
- Speech, language and communication
This workshop is for professionals only
Vocabulary is a key part of how children understand and express ideas, supporting their ability to communicate, learn, and connect with others. A strong and flexible vocabulary is closely linked to reading comprehension, writing, and overall academic attainment, and is one of the strongest predictors of later educational success. It also plays an important role in social interaction, enabling children to share experiences, participate in conversations, and build relationships with others.
Aim of this workshop
- Understand how children learn and use new words
- Explore the role of vocabulary in communication, learning, and everyday interactions
- Recognise the impact that differences in vocabulary knowledge and use can have on children’s access to learning and social interaction
- Develop strategies to support children to express themselves in ways that work for them.
