The Bedfordshire and Luton Speech and Language Therapy Service can offer video appointments to some of our families. The decision to offer this type of appointment will be made by our clinicians and is a service for pre-booked appointments only.

Accessing pre-booked appointments

You will be asked your name, date of birth and contact number. You will then be taken to a secure meeting room and your health practitioner will be with you soon, to begin your appointment.

An introduction to video calling

- A good connection to the internet. If you can watch a video online (for example, on YouTube) you can make a video call.
- Web-camera, speakers and microphone already built into laptops or mobile devices.
- Google Chrome web browser on a desktop PC or laptop, or on an Android tablet or smartphone. Safari web browser on an Apple iMac, MacBook, iPad, or iPhone.
- Our video calls are secure and your privacy is protected.
- You have your own private video room that only authorised clinicians can enter.
- Video calling is free.
- However video calling will use your data allowance if you are not connected to a WiFi network.
- We recommend connecting to WiFi when calling to avoid using your data allowance.

Getting ready to make a video call

On the device you are using to make the call, make sure you are using the latest web browser. Visit What Is My Browser to find out what browser you are using.

Depending on what device you are using you may need a different type of browser.
