Parentline explained

Parentline is a secure and confidential text messaging service for parents and carers that are looking after children and young people aged 0 to 19 across Bedfordshire and Luton.

Our team can help with all sorts of concerns such as weaning, emotional health or how to book an appointment with our team.

To start a conversation, just text:

Our text number does not receive voice calls or MMS picture messages. We support messaging from UK mobile numbers only. We cannot receive messages sent from landlines, international mobile numbers and some 'number masking' mobile apps.

If you text us out of hours, you will receive a bounce back message. The message explains where to get help if your question is urgent and when you can expect a response. 

Texts are usually replied to within one working day and cost the same as a standard text or will come out of your contract message allowance.

If you do not want to receive a response from the health professional from sending messages to you, text STOP to the text number.


Parentline terms and conditions

Unless you give permission, we will not pass on anything you say to anyone else, like nurseries, schools and social care - except if there are concerns with you or your child's health, wellbeing or welfare.

We will always discuss any concerns with you if we need to share information with other parties. 

For our safety and yours we hold information that you tell us on electronic records that can be seen by other healthcare professionals who all follow the same confidentiality rules - this can include your doctor. Records are kept for future use.
